X-Pulse

X-Pulse is a revolution in the flexibility of benchtop NMR spectroscopy.

A unique modular design combines fully tuneable broadband X-nuclei

capability, flow chemistry, sample automation, reaction monitoring and

variable temperature with superior spectral resolution. X-Pulse provides

the widest range of NMR chemical analysis for research, development,

quality control and teaching on the bench in your lab.

The X-Pulse benchtop NMR spectrometer identifies structure, characterises reaction dynamics and measures physical and chemical properties of molecules, compounds and mixtures. Easily positioned in a lab without needing any liquid cryogens, X-Pulse with its high homogeneity permanent magnet has exceptional temperature stability.

X-Pulse operates with standard 5mm NMR tubes, or our easy-to-use flow cell. The optional X-Auto sample changer maximises throughput and automates data acquisition for up to 25 samples.

New enhanced SpinFlow software makes routine experiments even simpler and adds more flexibility for advanced users.

For coherence selection, selective excitation and water and solvent suppression, comprehensive pulsed field gradients and shaped RF pulses are included as standard.

Ask a question

True broadband capability gives you the freedom to select the nuclei you need for your experiments, whether ¹H, ¹³C, ³¹P, ⁷Li, ²⁹Si, or something more exotic like ¹²⁹Xe, ¹¹B, or ⁵⁹Co. Just choose the nucleus of interest in the software and adjust the probe to ensure you are operating under the optimum conditions.

Maximising the signal-to-noise ratio for some benchtop NMR experiments can be the difference between success and failure. The exceptional sensitivity of X-Pulse 140:1 (broadband/Dual-X) and 200:1 (HF) for 1% ethyl benzene makes success more achievable. For those nuclei with low receptivity, such as ¹³C or ²⁹Si, ensuring sensitivity is paramount. The ability to tune and match for each specific nuclei allows you to achieve maximum signal-to-noise ratio.

X-Pulse is an incredibly versatile and powerful benchtop NMR instrument. The design philosophy of separating the magnet and electronics, as with high field NMR systems, allows us to maximise performance of key system components independently. The result of this is a system that is capable of acquiring data using a huge array of NMR pulse sequences, from typically standard 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional proton and x-nuclei experiments such as FID, DEPT, HSQC and HMBC, to more complex sequences such as gs-HSQC, PGSE, and solvent suppression taking advantage of 3 axis pulsed field gradients and shaped pulses.

These powerful NMR techniques can be combined with other instrument capabilities such as our flow cell for in-line reaction monitoring or variable temperature system to allow you to gain new understanding of your chemistry in your laboratory.

With X-Pulse your NMR peaks are easier to separate and lower concentrations become visible. X-Pulse uses a 60MHz (1.4T) permanent magnet. Using new shimming technology enables the generation of an extremely homogeneous field, delivering resolution of less than 0.35Hz at the half-height and line shape of 10Hz at 0.55%. Peaks are easier to identify, or integrate and, combined with shaped RF pulses, solvent suppression is much more effective, allowing even challenging compounds such as sugars and starches dissolved in water to be analysed.

The magnetic field of an X-Pulse benchtop NMR system is produced using a permanent magnet of unique design. There is no need for cryogens to cool the system, significantly reducing running costs and worries of magnets quenching. This unique magnet design delivers extremely high stability, ensuring that your experiments are artefact-free. The benchtop footprint and minimal stray field (2G line within the magnet case) allow X-Pulse to be installed in a wide range of environments without the need for special facilities. You can perform NMR right next to your experiments in your lab, or even next to your process reactor, allowing you to better understand your reaction processes. The large thermal mass of the magnet ensure that whether you are flowing liquids at 10°C or 75°C through your flow cell, you can collect stable artefact-free data. In addition, the optional X-Pulse mobile workstation gives you the ability to easily move the system.

benchtop convenience

Our new SpinFlow benchtop NMR data acquisition software brings a new level of ease of use to X-Pulse. Predefined “quick" experiments allow you to collect routine data such as a basic 1-dimensional ¹H spectrum or even a ¹³C DEPT array with a single click. Any experiment set-up you choose can be turned into a single click experiment with the new user-defined experiments. These allow experienced users to save their own sequences and parameters to be run again later, ensuring consistency while decreasing the time it takes to collect your data. Queues of experiments can be built and saved easily to automate multiple acquisitions on a sample and repeat that across many samples maximise efficiency and minimise errors.
