Oil and Water in Oilseed Residues

Oil and Water in Oilseed Residues

Measurement of oil and water in oilseed residues after crushing and solvent extraction is important to maximise the seed oil yield. However, oil content is also an important nutritional parameter of the resulting oilseed, and grain, by-products which are often used for animal feed.

Our benchtop NMR analyser, MQC+, provides a fast, simple and accurate method of measuring oil and water content without the need for solvent extraction and oven drying which are slow, labour intensive and require skilled operator. Furthermore, it is not affected by colour or grain size and does not require extensive calibration with 100’s of samples.

By downloading this application note, you will learn:

  • How time domain NMR can be used to analyse a range of oilseed and grain residues measured by the same calibration.
  • The advantages of time domain NMR in comparison to other methods.
