Gypsum atomic steps

Atomic steps imaged on gypsum after surface reconstruction following a brief exposure to water. The surface was images using AC mode in air and the Z Sensor was recorded and shown here. Imaged on a MFP-3D Infinity, 45 µm scan. The ability to measure single atomic steps demonstrates the low Z sensor noise of the Infinity. The lack of any evident bow demonstrates the quality the XY scanner, which maintains exceptional flatness even on this large scan size.
